Steilmann is a family-founded company with a large tradition. We take the development of each individual very seriously and we pride ourselves with our vast experience in the field of training apprentices.
We are glad to greet each year a substantial number of young people who have chosen to start their career with a professional education scheme at Steilmann.
We consider our apprentices as responsible and eager-to-learn people, who get involved in the company’s activities by showing motivation, own initiative and a high sense of responsibility. We have high performance expectations from our apprentices but we equally promote the team spirit.
Our essential purpose, which we are trying to achieve through this professional education, is to create a strong basis for each apprentice for their future professional career.
This apprenticeship lasts 3 years and it includes a large variety of areas typical to the apparel industry: fabric sourcing and buying, transport, sales and key accounts, as well as human resources management and accounting (financial controlling, customers’ and suppliers’ book-keeping).
Our apprenticeship begins each year on August 1st. The selection procedure involves several steps: aptitude test, group interview and then single interview and it starts in September/October of the previous year. Applications are accepted from July onwards.

This is what you can expect from us during the professional education in sales management in the apparel industry:
• “Starter-day”: we introduce the company to you before the start of your apprenticeship
• Assignment to different departments of the business based on a professional education plan
• Twice weekly classes at the vocational training college
• Special focus in certain areas can be given from the second educational year based on personal inclinations
• Regular personal assessment
• Bilingual classes offered at the vocational training college
• European Computer Certificate
• Extensive selling experience acquired during trade fairs
• Performance monitoring, educational appraisal and individual mentoring
• Practical training in preparation for the exam#
